Unfortunately I'm unable to post the painting I did of Ivan a few years ago. The rockstar of the bike world. Go to www.janekellahan.co.nz then /paint/people and you will see him there. It would be great if it went to the Christchurch Museum.

Sincere condolences to the Mauger family and friends. It's beyond awesome that Ivan's route to hard earned legendary status started as a Diamond. A true inspiration who transcends speedway and sport.

Loved the rivalry between Ivan and Ole Olsen at the World Championships at the old Wembley Stadium, London. My son is now 46 yrs. old and he watched Ivan as a Primary School boy. Speedway riders like Ivan left children with a true love for the sport and left a lasting impression. Thank you Ivan. RIP.

A wonderful rider, a consummate professional and great entertainer. His World title achievements in the era of one-off finals was remarkable. I had the pleasure of watching him many times at Poole and he was always a stylish competitor who made winning look so easy. A true legend; I hope that his memory will live on, perhaps with an international competition named after him?

I am so deeply saddened by this news. Ivan was so special to me. I couldn't believe he would ride for Exeter. When we had the last meeting there which still sticks in my throat he was there with SA and others. So special. Funny thing is I wanted to try and talk to him but I held him in such I has esteem I struggled. I think he would have enjoyed our conversation. My sincere condolences to all the family. He was terrific. What a champion

Ivan you were the greatest of all time. So good that it seemed so unfair that others had to ride against you. You captained my team, Belle Vue, to triumph after triumph and we marvelled at your skill season after season. You will never be forgotten by the many thousands who witnessed you. RIP Ivan.
