In 1972 I met Ivan Mauger, I have recounted the story of that day thousands of times and every time I told the story I would say “that’s if you know who Ivan Mauger is” not once did anyone say no, they may never have been to a speedway meeting but people in all walks of life knew Ivan. He transcended the sport but also represented it in superb style. I am proud to have met him. Thank you Ivan rest in peace.
