One of the absolute best riders ever. New Zealand has lost one of its sporting greats of all times. He was so professional. I do not think I ever saw him have an engine failure. Some would say he was a 'gater', which in deed he was. However, on several occasions I actually did see him miss the gate, but by turn four of the first lap he was back in front where he stayed. [One exception to this at a Wembley World Final - but he only needed a point, which he got, to be Champion - and look who won that race and where they finished! I say no more].
