R.I.P. my friend from the first time I met you in the 70s I cried I was only 8 years old, you were my hero then, I then saw you again 30 years later at Sheffield in the pits and I nearly cried that time as well, but I held back the tears because I had a tyre in my hand. The meeting had finished and I went to the bar. I bowed at your feet and everybody looked at me weird, I just didn't care, you said to me would you like a drink and I said yes to have a drink off the world's best speedway rider of all time we stayed in touch as well it was an honour and privilege to know you Ivan you were an amazing person and I respect you so much.
