I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Ivan Mauger. I first saw him, as a 9 year old Rayleigh Rockets supporter, at the 1972 Wembley World Final, which he won. I have seen him race many times ever since and have long thought that he was the best speedway rider that the world has ever seen, and will probably ever see. I was fortunate to meet him at a book signing for his book, 'The Will to Win', and enjoyed a conversation with him and Raye. For a man who was a multi world champion, he was both engaging and humble. Speedway is the poorer for his passing. My sincere condolences to the Mauger family.
