The Pele of speedway! An icon, pioneer and the greatest speedway rider ever. I am a big rugby and speedway fan ... from Plymouth UK my family watched The Falcons every Monday after the Plymouth Devils, Pennycross Stadium finished in 1972. We watched the Falcons from the 1969 too. My Dad always said up until from 1973 "That damned Mauger won .... again!!" We always knew that she was a legend. When Exeter signed Ivan in 1973, about 10,000 saw him for his a debut, faultless and in 1974 the Championship. My Dad said "I always said that he is an incredibly nice bloke" :o) I love many sports .... but the sportsman that will be ever my first and only favourite will be Ivan Mauger. Simply, he is inimitable and a giant of legend. I wrote that Ivan had Cognitive Aphasia. After a serious stroke, I have a type of Aphasia ... so forgive my writing is not a little some problems. I would like to pass family's Ivan and all friends for my condolences. best regards Roger (Roger Osborne)
