We shared the same birth date but that’s where the similarity ended. As a young man obsessed with every form of motorsport I was lucky enough to witness the halcyon years at Claremont Speedway here in Perth. Over the many years we had many visiting riders from Ole Olson to Anders Michanek to Ove Fundin, Jim Airey, Malcolm Simmons and more. None and I mean none could ever be compared to Ivan. He was in a class of his own and undoubtedly the greatest of all time. His skill on a solo bike was something to behold. Rest In Peace Ivan, you gave me and many like me the world over unforgettable memories. My deepest sympathy to his family.
